Rocks and Fossils!

Here in town we have a local rock and fossil store which, after learning all about rocks and fossils, we went to and had a blast! We saw examples of all the different kinds of rocks that we learned about and saw many cool fossils! They have some huge dinosaurs out front, and up top is a picture of the boys touching quartz.
Here is an alligator fossil.
Here is the dinosaur egg that the boys got to touch.
This is the man running the store for his brother while he is off running around the world getting more rocks. In this picture he took us to his back shed and showed us how they chip away the stone to get to the fossils. He also showed us a fossil of a sting ray (worth $400) that he was working on right then. We brought some boxes that were divided into sections and bought rocks of each kind to have our own rock collection that the boys have thoroughly enjoyed since we have been home!

So fun! The rock collecting we've done is with egg cartons, and pretty much every rock we encounter is special in some way ;)
