Kayden has been studying cells and DNA and so of course we had to turn our kitchen into a lab and extract some DNA from broccoli! You can't see it very well but it was so cool! In the top half of the jar are a whole bunch of long white strands that are DNA strands and all the cells are left in the bottom of the jar!
Kayden was very disappointed in our microscope that you can't see the individual parts of the DNA up close or see a cell so I guess we have to keep our eyes out for a more sophisticated microscope but we could see the individual strands of DNA!
Here is kayden extracting samples of DNA and examining them and playing with his DNA model!
We also did an experiment where you suck an egg into a bottle! It was cool!
